About me

Hi Everyone!
Thought I would give a brief description of myself and my interests!

I am 17 years old and have always had a passion for nutrition, exercise and living healthy.
I started ballet when i was 5, then moved on to competitive gymnastics when i was 7; training with the best of coaches who trained girls for the Olympics. The training was extremely intense, especially for a seven year old girl ;p. I trained 4 hours a day, doing gymnastics routines, flexibility work, strength training, cardiovascular training etc... It was crazy and I was in insane shape. I stayed with this until I was 12 and moved to a smaller town where competitive gymnastics was not available :(. I then moved on to soccer, did very well in soccer as well... made it onto a select team in Vancouver, training with players from the white caps. Staying in soccer I also started contemporary dance and ballet and made it into a competitive team in Vancouver as well.. I then quit soccer to pursue my competitive dance. It was my life. BUT!  ended up having to quit dance, it was so unbelievably hard to give up dance to move back to a smaller town again. This town did not offer any type of dance what so ever.. So.. I started working out in our own home gym at age 15.. I started doing weights and cardio 4-5 days a week. I have continued since then and absolutely love it!!
I train to stay in shape and live a healthy life. I do not do it to achieve a certain appearance or lose weight..nor do I do I train excessively. If I feel tired and my body does not feel up to working out, I DONT PUSH IT!
As far as diet goes... I believe that balance is key.. I do not believe in cutting carbs or fats, or having barbie sized portions. I eat a healthy carb (oats, br.rice, quinoa, sweet potato, potato, or any other unrefined grain) at every main meal, a healthy fat at every meal (ex: nut butter, olive oil, avocado..etc) a lean protein at every main meal, a vegetable at (almost) every meal ;) and about 2-3 fruits a day! I eat what my body needs to stay healthy, and to keep myself from health problems in the future. Oh and I have an occasional treat whenever I feel like it..because balance IS key!

Read my next blog post about my goals in life! xx
